Lightweight Cumara Bass Rods From Shimano Designed For Bottom Contact Situations
LIGHTWEIGHT CUMARA BASS RODS FROM SHIMANO DESIGNED FOR BOTTOM CONTACT SITUATIONS

IRVINE, Calif. 7/07 - ICAST Show Intro -- Continuing its emphasis on bringing innovation and performance to fishing rods, Shimano introduces its new Cumara bass rods with lightweight IM-10 graphite blanks and a unique hook keeper. The series includes eight casting and seven spinning models.

Designed primarily for bottom bouncing techniques, the one-piece Cumara rods provide the sensitivity needed when working jigs and plastic worms. Combine the lightness and sensitive feel from the IM-10 graphite, along with a lightweight reel spooled with braided line, and you’ll have the fishing tools to feel every little bump and bite,” said Justin Poe, rod product manager for Shimano. “The custom split reel seat provides direct contact to the blank, plus there’s added comfort and reduced rod weight by using shaped high density EVA for the grips.”

Other key high-end features include Fuji SIC guides, all wrapped with Gudebrod thread, and Shimano’s patent-pending integrated hook keeper. “Anglers can keep their bait in place with a convenient hook keeper built into the EVA grip,” Poe notes. “From the reactions we’ve received from some key tackle dealers and field testers, it’s one of those cool features that sets the Cumara rods above others.”

The casting rods in the Cumara series includes four 6’8”models - the CUC68M, CUCX68M, CUC68MH and CUCX68MH - and four 7’2” models - the CUC72M, CUCX72M, CUC 72MH and CUCX72MH. Spinning rods include three 6’8” models - the CUSCX68M, CUC68M and CUS68MH - three 7’2” models - CUSDX72M, CUS72M and CUS72MH - and the 7’6” CUS76M.

“We think anglers will really like the medium power 6’8” and 7’2” casting rods - rated for 6- to 14-pound test - matched with any of our 100 size casting reel - especially the new Core reels with magnesium frames,” said Poe. “It takes lightness and sensitivity to a new level.”

The Cumara rod series is backed by Shimano’s limited lifetime over-the-counter replacement warranty program.
