Shimano nets specialist consultant
Shimano is pleased to a announce the appointment of Darran Goulder to their consultant team.
We have been watching Darrans progress for a while now and felt he would be a great addition, joining Jan Porter and Ali Hamidi on our Specialist team line-up.
Speaking with Darran it was soon evident what he could offer in the form of innovation, product development and translating what goes into each and every Shimano product introduced into the marketplace.

Darrans hold a vast array of specimen captures:
Barbel 16.9, Tench 6 doubles to 12.8, Male Tench 9.11, Bream 23 doubles to 15.10, Chub 6.12, Crucian 4.1, Perch 3.13, Roach 2lb, Carp 34.8, Pike 32lb
Darran has been fishing since he was 10 years old, beginning after carp on small lakes and commercials.
In 2004 Darran caught his first double figure barbel from the River Teme which he saw as a turning point, from then on Darran concentrated as an all round specimen hunter, fishing for a multitude of different species throughout the season, as and when the conditions dictate. Darrans best season to date was 2007/2008, and he fought off hefty competition from some very competent specimen anglers, some of which have been in the game for a much longer time, during this season he was crowned the youngest ever Angling Times Specimen Cup Winner at the age of 24.

Darran has commented on why he chose Shimano:
“It’s great to have an opportunity at Shimano as I have been using their tackle for many years and has never let me down. It’s important to have confidence in your kit, because when targeting big fish, you never know whether you are playing a possible fish of a lifetime. I’m excited at the prospect of having an active input into the design of future products, because with Shimano you know they are going to be innovative and of superb quality.”
