The new 2009 model sees the introduction of AR-C spool, a redesigned double handle, and is supplied with a double anodised cold forged spool, plus a spare single anodised cold forged version of the same capacity. The smaller sizes of the Exage family have been fully restyled with the new FB models replacing the long-serving FA. Added features include a double handle, Diecast Drive Gear, tougher anodised spools and an extra bearing. The Catana FA has a large multi-disc front drag that is ideal for playing larger fish in extreme conditions. 2 ball bearings and 1 roller bearing, in combination with CAD designed gears, give a smoothness that you usually find on much more expensive reels.

A gear ratio of 4.6:1 (up to size 4000 only), and stylishly designed rear body armour give this volume selling reel that added extra which, combined with a whole range of standard features, makes the price tag seem far too low. An attractive price tag does not mean low quality from the P3 Shimano family - anything but - this is an economy reel that will provide you with long term reliable performance for many years to come.
