Moisture management is the process of drawing excess moisture (perspiration)
away from the skin for maximum evaporation. Shimano has numerous fabrics in
the collection that provide excellent moisture management, to keep you dry and
comfortable while you train. In general, synthetic fabrics such as polyester and
nylon offer the best moisture management properties.

Moisture management fabrics in our line:
Dryclim, Coolmax, Trek Dry, Cooldry, Sensitive

There’s no telling what whether conditions you may encounter on a ride. Shimano
uses special fabrics to protect you from the sun, the wind, the rain and the cold
while still ensuring you of the ease of movement and the comfort that you need.
Here’s what we offer to protect you from the elements:

Sun protection > UPF30 and UPF50
Water protection > Technium, Technium 10.000 and Technium 12.000
Wind protection > WindFlex light

To provide warmth and comfort, our insulating and thermal fabrics have a brushed
inside surface that traps a thin layer of air between your body and the fabric.

Insulation fabrics we use are: Lombardia and Winter fabric

These knitted fabrics will compress your muscles and thus protect you from
fatigue, muscle soreness, and injury. They also facilitate improved blood
circulation to speed recovery from fatigue or injury. Another advantage with
these fabrics is that the elasticity subtly coaxes your body into the perfect
riding position.

Elastic fabrics in our line:
Lycra, Lycra Power, Sensitive, Revolutional and Elasthane

These fabrics are treated with a special fi nish which provides maximum
water and stain repellency without affecting the breathability of the fabric.

To achieve stain and water repellency, we use Tefl on (by Du Pont)

The environment is very important to Shimano. We always try to use
the friendliest materials. One of them is Greenplus, a fabric made from
recycled plastic bottle fl akes.
As a recycled product, Greenplus helps reduce fossil fuel consumption
and greenhouse gas emissions when compared to virgin polyester.
Of course the feel of the fabric and all technical properties, including,
for example, moisture management, are in every way the equal of what
you’ve come to expect from a Shimano garment.

Greenplus is our choice for a high-performance, sustainable fabric

Because of the use of real silver molecules, these fabrics fi ght odours.
They have high breathability, and are fast drying, anti-mycotic and anti-static.

One of the unfortunate facts of life is that cyclists are not easily seen
by motorists or pedestrians. To keep you safe, we incorporate generous
amounts of reflective material into our products so you are always visible
to anyone else using the highway.
