Shimano Racing Team Japan

The Shimano Racing Team is the feeder team for Skil-Shimano. This Continental team was formed for two distinct purposes. The first is turning Asian riders into full-fledged pro cyclists. Riders that graduate successfully may have the opportunity to join the Skil-Shimano team. The second purpose is to promote cycling in Asia and particularly in Japan, title sponsor Shimano’s homeland. Cycling is enjoying increasing popularity in Asia. Shimano has its own Shimano Cycle Academy, which visits schools in Japan to raise awareness among children of the health and environmental aspects of riding a bike. A Supporters Club has the task of getting the Japanese interested in cycling and turning them into fans. Shimano’s cycling activities in Japan are conducted under the motto ‘Road to the Dream’.

The Shimano Racing team 2010 comprises the following Japanese riders: Shinri Suzuki, Hidenori Nodera, Yoshinori Iino, Yusuke Hatanaka, Yuzuru Suzuki, Junpei Murakami, Yoshimitsu Hiratsuka. Team manager is former cyclist Hisafumi Imanishi, who has gained experience of European courses with Skil-Shimano in recent years. Directeur sportif is Hidenori Nodera, who swaps the bike for the team car this season after the Japanese championship.
